We Built the Travel Mug We Couldn't Find
We're Ashley and Yasmina, and bru started with a simple problem: every travel mug we tried either leaked, made coffee taste of metal, or was awkward to drink from. So we designed our own. A ceramic lined interior for a pure taste. A vacuum insulated double wall that keeps drinks hot for hours. A 360° leakproof lid you can sip from any angle. We launched it on Kickstarter, and thousands of coffee drinkers backed us. It's been our obsession ever since.

What is a ceramic travel mug?
A ceramic travel mug has a ceramic lined interior instead of bare stainless steel or plastic. The ceramic surface doesn't react with coffee or tea, so your drink keeps its natural taste with no metallic edge. The shell is still insulated stainless steel for heat retention.
Why choose ceramic over stainless steel or plastic?
Stainless steel interiors impart a slight metallic taste, especially with acidic drinks like espresso. Plastic absorbs odours and flavours over time and can leach into hot liquids. Ceramic is neutral, easy to clean, and keeps coffee tasting like coffee for the life of the cup.
Are reusable coffee cups worth it?
Yes, and do not be shy about it. Coffee shops accept reusable cups, and most offer a discount. Just hand it over before you order. bru is sized to match standard takeaway cup sizes in 8oz, 12oz and 16oz.
Will a travel mug really keep my coffee hot?
A vacuum insulated double wall travel mug, like our bru, will keep coffee hot for up to 8 hours, depending on the temperature the coffee was poured in at and the environmental temperature after that. The vacuum gap between the two walls stops heat escaping by conduction. Single-walled cups (ceramic mugs, paper cups, glass mugs) lose heat within 15 minutes.
Can I use a reusable cup in coffee shops?
Of course- and don't be shy about it! All UK coffee shops accept reusable cups, and most offer a discount of 25p to 50p per drink. Just hand it over before you order. bru is sized to fit standard takeaway cup sizes, 8oz,12oz and 16oz.
What size travel mug should I get?
Our ceramic travel mug comes in three sizes. Most people pick the 12oz / 340ml for a regular latte or americano. The 8oz / 230ml suits a flat white or espresso drinker. The 16oz / 455ml is for larger lattes, iced drinks and longer commutes. All three fit a standard car cup holder.
Where is bru made?
bru is designed in the UK and manufactured to our specification by our long-term partner in China. We've visited the factory floor and chosen them in part for their sustainable practices, including a fully solar-wrapped roof. bru cups are independently 3rd party tested by SGS. We're a small UK-run brand, not a large corporate business.
Do you ship to the US?
We ship from our US warehouse to all 50 states, with most orders arriving in 2 to 4 business days. There are no customs charges, no import duties and nothing to pay on delivery. We also ship worldwide from our UK warehouse.

Two Founders, One Obsession.
bru is run by us, Yasmina and Ashley, a small UK family team based in Essex. Yasmina leads sustainability and design. Ashley is an engineer by trade and obsesses over how things are built, which is why every bru is independently tested by SGS and why we machine-test our lids to 10,000 open-close cycles. We've visited our factory, chosen it partly for its solar-covered roof, and we use these mugs every single day. Designed in the UK, tested at home, shipped worldwide.
